All this year we have seen the number of private lessons we give explode. You know how it is: you need help deciphering a pattern or setting in a sleeve. Or, you need help with yarn that you bought at a shop that is no longer in business. When you book a private lesson then you will receive our undivided attention for as long as you need. The rate is $20 per hour with a half hour minimum. You can request a certain teacher or we will set you up with someone based on the type of help you need. To schedule a lesson, please call the shop.
The focus of our November and December classes is on gift giving. We’ve set up a bunch of classes so you can make easy gifts for every one on your holiday list.
Carri Hammett’s newest design is ingenious. It looks complicated but if you break it down into the individual blocks it’s really simple. Carri rarely teaches classes so this is a special opportunity to work with the designer. The yarn is Dream in Color which can be purchased in kits for the blanket; stop into the shop to preorder for class. Bring #6 and #7 circular needles if you have them. Skill Level: Adv Beginner, Age: Adult Tuesdays, Dec 2-16, 10am to noon 3 sessions, Teacher: Carri Hammett
This gorgeous hat is another design from Carri Hammett. Carri loves to write patterns that are really simply for the knitter to make but look impressive when finished. You will find the slip stitch technique fun and quick. Kits are available for the hats. Bring #7-16” circular needle if you have one. Skill Level: Adv Beginner, Age: Adult Fridays, Nov 28 & Dec 12, 10am to noon 2 sessions, Teacher: Pam
with NEEDLE FELTED EMBELLISHMENT Guaranteed to make any feet happy! The clogs will be knit in class and then felted at home (after ‘walking through’ the technique in class). You’ll bring your finished clogs to the last session and then learn how to needle felt a design. They are absolutely darling - make kid or adult size. Purchase supplies before first class. Skill level: Advanced Beginner, Age: Adult Mondays, Nov 3 - 24, 10am to noon 4 Sessions, Teacher: Becky
People LOVE getting hand-knit socks as a gift. Learn the basics of sock knitting by making boot socks using worsted weight yarn. Bring #4 double point needles if you own them. Purchase supplies in the first class. Skill Level: Advanced Beg, Age: Adult Saturdays, Dec 6 - 20, 10am to noon 3 sessions, Teacher: Bridgit
Call it a Two Hour Mitten or a One Movie Project but either way it’s super fast and fun. Bring #13 double point needles if you have them. Pattern is free with class registration. Yarn will be purchased in class. Skill Level: Advanced Beg Age: Adult Saturdays, Nov 1 & 8, 10am to noon 2 sessions, Teacher: Pam
Make this scarf for everyone on your gift list. The pattern is that easy and quick. Best of all, the scarf only uses one skein of chunky alpaca. Bring #13 needles if you have them. Yarn will be purchased in class. Skill level: Advanced Beg, Age: Adult Saturday, Nov 22, 10am to noon 1 Session, Teacher: Robyn
Perfect for non knitters.! Needle felting is a dry felting technique that uses barbed needles to permanently attach dyed wool roving to a background. The result is simply charming and the skill is very easy to learn. Class fee includes pre-felted pot holder base and rainbow dyed roving. Bring felting needles and foam if you own them. Age: Adult Skill Level: No Knitting Required Tuesday, Nov 18, 7 to 9pm 1 session, Teacher: Bridgit
Designer, Marie Mayhew, apparently can’t help herself. She started with a classic gnome but then her imagination ran wild. Becky is addicted too and she show you all the tricks with this adorable pattern. Purchase supplies (including pattern) in first class. Bring double point # 10 1/2 needles if you have them. Age: Adult, Skill Level: Advanced Beg Mondays, Dec 1 - 15, 10am to noon 3 sessions, Teacher: Becky

MOTHER BEAR PROJECT Another program that is very dear to us is the Mother Bear Project. This program seeks to provide comfort, love and hope in the form of hand-knitted teddy bears to children afflicted and orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Africa. You would be amazed by how much these children love to have their own bear. If you want to learn more go to the website, www.motherbearproject.org. Coldwater Collaborative is a drop-off location for the bears so feel free to bring in your bears and leave a $3.00 donation for shipping and we will be happy to send them off for you.
The classes always fill very quickly. To ensure a spot, call us with your credit card number or better yet, come see us in the shop. The shop phone number is 952-401-7501 or 877-344-9276. If you would like to register for classes by email please send the following to info@coldwateryarn.com: 1. Your name and phone number 2. class title, date, and time 3. your credit card number and expiration date. SKILL LEVEL DEFINITION Please pay careful attention to the skill level for each class. It’s frustrating for everyone if students take a class that isn’t appropriate for their knitting or crochet ability. KNITTING: Beginner: No experience. Basic Knitting Skills: You should already know how to cast-on, knit and bind-off. Advanced Beginner: You should already know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind-off. Intermediate: You’ve learned how to read most patterns and you can knit a sweater (with maybe a little bit of help). Crochet: Beginner: No experience. Basic Crochet Skills: You know how to make a chain and single crochet. Advanced Beginner: You’ve made a few projects and are comfortable with several stitches.
ADULT CLASSES: Unless otherwise stated our classes are for adults only (minimum age 14). As much as we love kids and pets they are not welcome in our adult classes. We reserve the right to ask a parent to leave if they arrive for an adult class with a child. KIDS’ AND TEENS’ CLASSES: We strive to create an environment that fosters learning and creativity. Children who are disruptive make that impossible. If necessary, we will call the parent of a child who is being disruptive and ask that the child be removed from the class.
REFUND POLICY Our classes require a minimum of four students. We will notify you by phone if there aren’t enough students. Cancellations by students must be made at least a week before the class starts in order to receive a refund. After that date fees are not refundable or transferable.
MAKE UP POLICY Sorry, but we do not allow students to make up classes. If you are unable to come to all the classes then please consider scheduling a private lesson.
